A recent study by the Nationwide Children’s Hospital showed that moderate intake of coffee by pregnant women will not affect the unborn child’s future intelligence or behavior.
The blood samples of over 2,000 pregnant women were studied from 1959 to 1975. The birthed child was later tested for IQ levels at the ages of 4 and 7. The researchers then used data analysis to look at the relationship between caffeine intake and the child’s IQ and behavior capabilities. They found that caffeine intake by the pregnant moms did not affect the future intelligence and behavior of the child.
So mom, it seems OK to drink those cups of coffee when pregnant, but in moderation.
